The ancient tradition says that on the evening of April 30 groups of singers "Maggiaioli" come together to celebrate the arrival of summer singing and performing madrigals in the streets and in the surrounding countryside Castiglione d'Orcia. The Festival is a classic Maggiolata Tuscany to take off the memory of cold winter that we carry on the shoulders to leave space for the sunny days of spring.
The feast to celebrate our Lady assumed into heaven on August 15, has now expanded to three days of festivities that begin on the evening of 13. The opening of the Festival takes place on the evening of June 1 at 19 with a great dinner followed by dancing at 21. On 2 June the celebration begins in the morning with a parade of agricultural machinery and continues with the funai masters at work. In the afternoon takes place in the square "quadrille" followed by the re-enactment of threshing and vintage machines from accimatura of the haystack.
